This is my contribution to the ever-growing canon of "pandemic albums," pieces of work created to cope with the depression and unease caused by nationwide lockdowns and widespread uncertainty. When NYC became a quarantine zone, I stopped playing or even thinking about music for a month straight.
Eventually, the urge to create came back, but the music I had been working on before felt fraught with anxiety. So I started from scratch and with zero preconceptions, playing short ideas on synths, adding layers of trumpet, guitar, percussion, clarinet (which I barely play), and even vocals. I refrained from editing my ideas too much or passing judgment, and eventually, I had a handful of pieces that documented my attempts to claw myself out of deadened isolation.
Some of the music is ambient, some are songs, some could serve as my film scoring reel; all of it is personal and I hope you enjoy listening should you choose to check it out.
